Preface: It isn't even 9 pm here in the small town of Doolin, Ireland but I am already bushwhacked beyond belief and, as this trip is coming to a close, the whole keeping kids posted on events via blog is getting old. So, this will be a very concise/informative/unfunny post.
This is a blog about a Texas Tech student's experience while studying abroad in Rome for the spring semester of 2011.

Adderall
As this trip comes to an end I have a quick note that I just realized. It is a small note of minimal importance but oh well. At least I can't say I learned not.
I've always thought that I needed adderall to help me focus. I admittedly am distracted easily and my mind is out there so it's hard for me to stay focused. However, I just had an "ah hah!" moment and realized that I do not need adderall to help me focus; I need something worth focusing on to help me focus.
I get bored easily. I get bored when I'm doing fun stuff, I get bored walking, I get bored with being in Rome, I get bored reading, I get bored eating, I get bored watching TV, I get bored with girls (discovered through talking with a friend that this explains a lot of my tendencies with girls), and I get bored with almost everything. There are three things that NEVER bore me: music, sports (football/basketball), and family.
What now? What is something interesting for me to focus on? Is there something out there that carries enough interestingness by itself to harness my focus?
No clue. Life is full of boring junk that we are all obliged to tend to. So, I guess all I can do is keep my head down and keep trucking.
Cinco De Mayo is so close I can almost taste the lack of Mexican Food I'll be downing.

French Navy & My Crazy Night On Ex
It's the next to last Tuesday in Rome--while I fly out Saturday for Scotland we do come back to Rome the 17th and fly out the 18th. I'm starving (side note).
I have a test in a few hours that I haven't studied for. I like my turkey cold and, honestly, my improv skills are off the charts, so I figure I should rely on my strength--you wouldn't suggest to a Helen Kelleresque kid to take a basic senses test.
I watched a lot of the NBC show Community on Youtube last night and it really made me okay with moving on because of it--most everyone here isn't excited for the next step, but it's a part of life and my next part of life takes me back to my friends and family so I'm okay with that (the show made me ready to get back to the homies) (not to say I have friends here that I wont be missing dearly because I do/will).
The Mavs won last night and that is huge.
Here is a video everyone should watch. It's a 3 scene video with the first scene being in Paris, the second in Barcelona, and the third in Rome--the three main cities I have visited here. So, if you wanna see what I saw push play. Also, the song as a whole is a nice feel for how it is here #sodopeness.
And now a few quick pics...

Last Week
Well it's my last week and I haven't posted in just over a month so I'll catch ya'll up real fast.
- Went to Barcelona. It's awesome. I wanna go back and visit.
- Osama Bin Laden was supposedly killed yesterday, but due to the fact that they shoved his body out to see immediately and I don't trust America or any government I think he is still alive and I dont care if he is or is not. He's one man. We all need to focus on changing our own lives and with blaming others for our problems. Focus on what you can control. We definitely don't do that.
- I have a new love for boiled eggs. They're cheap and all I eat.
- My sleep schedule is normal again.
- I don't stress over finals.
- I don't stress over finals at a high school level university (no offense, mad love)
- I got friends on the east coast I'm going to visit this August.
- They're coming to a football game in the fall.
- Getting anxious about Rosa's.
- Getting anxious about rage week 2011 with the dudes.
- I now have a mustache and no beard in honor of the month of May (I may keep it through my sister's wedding).
- I realy wish I could be watching/playing basketball.
- The Grizzles are my shizzles.
- The Mavs beat the Lakers in 6 (Kobe and Dirk cancel each other out and we got the magic).
- The Cowboys shocked me on draft day.
- I went to Mass at the Vatican for Easter (it was brutal).
- I've dropped two belt notches since I got here.

"Stay Golden Pony Boy"- Emilio Estevez
I got a new playlist constructed that is primarily comprised of Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, and "The 50 Most Relaxing Classical Songs" album #dope, and the weather is marvelous outside so, as you can suspect, it's a wonderful time to focus and board the thoughts, opinions, & creativity ferry.

Homework in Rome and FANTAastic Fanta
I have five questions I must answer and take to class tomorrow for my midterm and each answer should be about a-page-and-a-half long. It is 11:28 pm here so naturally I am yet to start the midterms or even look at it. So, in an attempt to clear some thoughts from my head to help me focus I will now post in my blog. Do I know what I'm gonna say in this post? Not really. But, keep reading and you'll find out.

"Your Love Is My Drug"- Ke$ha
I'm having a hard time gathering my thoughts right now because so much is going on here (i.e. hood junk) and back home (i.e. sister getting married, summer job search, Ke$ha), therefore I am going to pull a concept from the film "Mean Girls" and simply word vomit.

What grinds my gears.
For the few that read this blog I'm sure you've come to realize this isn't your typical 'study abroad blog' mainly due to the fact that I'm not your typical... anything. With that being said here is the tidbit for today....

On Loan To One Another (GLGS) (Fortitudine Vincimus)
Below you will find an article by the badass known as Dennis Peacocke. I'm not going to give you all of the info on him other than the fact that I respect this man and if you wanna learn more about him and what he does click here.
Start off by reading what he has to say and then continue on to my follow up. This is like a puzzle with only two pieces, so I hope ya'll can put it together, but for the sake of this post both pieces are of equal importance. #yinyang

115 Days Abroad: With thanks to Mr. Steinbeck: "I have always lived violently, drunk hugely, eaten too much or not at all, slept around the clock or missed two nights of sleeping, worked too hard and too long in glory, or slobbed for a time in utter laziness. I've lifted, pulled, chopped, climbed, made love with joy and taken my hangovers as a consequence, not as a punishment."

When In Rome...
I'm not a huge fan of cliche sayings like 'if the boot fits,' 'all is fair in love and war,' or 'Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive;' and I especially hate the saying 'when in Rome.' But, for this post, I'm going to make a list of a few 'when in Rome' for sures....

Enjoyment for the folk back home
I've never listened to Sufjan Stevens but I hear he's a swell fellah. So while checking out my favorite rappers blog I came across this mixtape that mc DJ aka Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover put together. He turned this crack rock into a mountain #dailylilwaynereference. Check out this song Chitown it's swag and then go download it by clicking on this text that is a different color than the rest.

"I'm here for a good not a long time"- Childish Gambino
It is unreal how amazing everything here is. Everything about this city is like something from a movie or a dream. And everything about my experience here is the same way. It's almost too good to be true. This is not to say life and all of the things in it have suddenly stopped. Life is still around and effecting me, but it is oh so wonderful to have this change of scene. To be able to step to the side and remove myself from the situation is the exact reason I came here in the first place and for this purpose to be served is the greatest thing. ANYWAYS enough of the #deepeness. On to the next one...

When life gets you down--
Every day for me is a fight against sadness. It's simply a part of life now with all that has happened. I don't mind feeling sad because it is a part of me now and reminds me that I am a human being and that there is purpose in life (this is a whole other deep topic that you can learn more about in some book I am sure). Fact is once you get down you need to get back up fast because life is too serious to be too serious and too short to treat it as if it were long. The following post is a collection of YouTube videos thrown together by myself and my new partner in crime Amanda Hiler--she's the girl that modeled for me till 6:30 am and that called me gay (turns out she doesn't think I'm gay anymore and that I no longer want to throw her off a bridge). The inspiration came as we went back and forth on facebook chat showing each other funny videos to help make each other smile. p.s. some of the videos contain what some would consider questionable language. But, who really care when you're just looking for a good laugh?

Model Pictures. I am what I am #dopeness #hotshizz
"Tell me I can't model 1000 times and I'll tell you to shut up 1 time and prove you wrong 999 times"
A weekend in Firenze (Florence)
This past weekend was spent in Firenze (Florence) with Rex, Emma (his woman), John (NY roommate), and Erin (Emma's bombass friend). This is the chronological account of the events that took place:
We left early Friday morning and hopped a train to Firenze. Rex and John ate McDonald's breakfast with Italian beef #upchuck. As the trip went along the temperature in the train slowly dropped. For the majority of the trip I was uncomfortably cold. We stepped off the train and I immediately transformed into Encino Man, so I bought a scarf outside the train station.
We met up with Emma and Erin and went to the Ciao Hostel--we had no toilet seat and had to share the room with a nice China man that was on a Euro trip of his own. He had a weird tripod for his camera that reminded me of something that Sue Johanson would recommend her listeners use. Fear not my dears! He never used it on myself or John (PTL).
We had a China man roommate in the Ciao Hostel. He was a pleasant fellow and I'm sure he still is to this day. He did however own an odd tripod that resembled something that Sue Johanson would suggest her
listener utilize to fresh up their dull bedroom--neither me or John experienced it so all is good on this western front.
The first night there Erin hosted a lovely dinner at her apartment (chicken curry and Erin desert surprise). I would say Erin needs to be put on meds but her personality should never be kept in a cage like the elephant band. She can get it straight up.
On Saturday we went with Erin and her students to Fiesole. There you can see all of Florence and stop by Alcedo (an award winning pastry shop). The day trip there was amazing and full of beauty and junk. It was also very cold. Yes. Cold it was.
Later that night we went out to a bombass place for food and another bombass place for drinks where Emma knew some big dogs so we got the hookup.
Also, just before we went to eat I made a friend and his name was Rick. Rick is dope.

I had the greatest food I've had since being here and it was a kebab at "Mesopotamia Kebabs." The only way to explain this experience is to say this: "Complete and utter euphoria." I ate the same kebab every day we were there.
I had an epiphany while up in a tower checking out Florence. The epiphany was this: "I am made to be a model." I'll be posting my model shots later. till then everyone needs to go to my Facebook Profile to see all of my pictures I took while in Florence.

oggi รจ piovuto! #rosasonmymind
Day 9 in Roma: So far I am still alive and have all of my body parts intact. Spirits are high and freely flowing down my gullet. I am yet to see Maria again, but I did find her on Facebook (turns out her Puerto Rican name is Mamuca)--I wonder if the people I mention in this blog would sue me for using their name without permission for image destruction and what not. Tuesdays and Thursdays are kind of tiring because of school (the classes I'm in are high octane). And on that note here is a summary of each class...
Introductory Italian- My professor refuses to speak English and the class is nonstop learning at 188 m / s. There are 4 guys including me and about 15 girls (they're alright but nothing to write home about... except for 1 or 2).
Media, Culture, & Society- This professor is certifiably insane and the course content is painfully common sense. I met one girl that is way tight and another girl named Tanya that is one of those insanely gorgeous Indian/Pakistani looking girls. The second hand on the clock in the class is haunted by a ghost--it randomly stops and jumps ahead 5-30 seconds.
Public Speaking- The professor in this class is like that fella from "Beautiful Mind" and he is awesome. He looks like Brad Pitt in "Legends of the Fall" whenever Brad is all bearded and his hair is pulled back.
Digital Photography- I'm realizing that photography may be something I thoroughly enjoy and may pursue more and more. The first class was this morning (hard to wake up for after going toe to toe with an Aussie last night and winning) and I've already learned a heap of things. The Prof is tight and is all about capturing the image you want to capture. I think I may enjoy being a Photographer for models--not nude ones but just girls that are gorgeous (eyes, smiles, facial structure, hair etc.). Maybe I'll make a list of girls I know that I'd like to photograph sometime #creepymuch
Getting excited about Florence this weekend and "Fall For Your Type" by Jamie Foxx just came on my itunes and so I will have to change the subject to my dear Morghann Milburn. Morghann follows the blog and is working on creating a profile for it. She told me she needed some help picking a picture to use so I offered her my help... Morghann can straight get it.

Anglo American Bookstore
No Wednesday classes this semester so Rex and I made our way out to the Anglo American Bookstore that was a sold walk from where we live. But, we made it there and passed the Pantheon and Spanish steps. I didn't have my camera with me so no pics of them today but soon... ALSO! We were supposed to go with this cool red head named Alexis that we met but she couldn't wait up for us bc she's whack like that. I would love to go into detail about how cool she is and how awesome it is that she wears sunglasses inside but I think it'd be better if yall just watch this clip instead... This is basically how it is for me every day
We have a long night ahead of us. We have a wine tasting to go to at 6:30 pm and afterward there is a huge rival Soccer match between Roma and Lazio that we'll be watching at a bar somewhere. GO LAZIO!
Also for my 4 followers: feel free to comment some. I think I might be able to make time to reply and I'd love to hear wassup and what you think. Peace an Blessins! Peace an Blessins

Laundry and Veronica
I was told just now that I need to post more often which makes no sense because I dont know that anyone reads this. I have only a handful of followers and 1 comment. BUT I will take this request to heart and do so. This is for you Veronica.
To the left you will see my laundry hanging all over my room. This is because they do not believe in driers here and because we do not have a clothesline setup for our apartment. We have a small rack that works but it is currently occupied by other fellas clothes. The washing machine is in straight Italiano and I do not know enough Italiano to read it yet, so for now I'm hoping I'm on the right settings.
In an attempt to avoid becoming a hobo I bought a new beard trimmer to replace the old one that broke upon plug in the first night here. It's a nice trimmer and will serve it's purpose well, but it will never fit in back home because it has European male parts.
It's obvious that Rex and I are straight dank to the ladies here. On many occasions a girl has came and talked to us and neither of us know who she is--TRUE LIFE: I'M A GANGSTA. The Dr. Jekyll in me loves this, but the Mr. Hyde in me reprimands myself as I know I should get better with names and remembering who people are. Here's to a better tomorrow.
I just booked a hostel in Florence for me and my roommate John to to stay in. We have 2 yet to be named roommates in the room this weekend. I may be someone's lady this weekend. Here's to hoping I'm not.

The Supermarket
Just had my first trip to the supermarket and it was a whopper! We walked down a main road in our neighborhood (Trastevere) looking for the supermarket and could not find it. Then, as we turned around and began walking back, we soon spotted a grocery store advertisement on the entrance of a large clothing store with an arrow pointing down. Turns out our grocery store is in the basement of a clothing department store.
A few differences in shopping at a Roman grocery store: A) you take all of your items out of your basket (DO NOT put the basket on the counter for many lives are lost over this action). B) You bag all of your groceries (they can and slide them down into a pit of sorts and you do the rest) C) The food is straight gold.

What's the word
The Word:
- I just adjusted my schedule so that I have 4 day weekends which means total dopeness is inevitable.
- There is a basketball league here setup by the school which means I will be breaking those boys anks
- I met a girl names Maria last night at Scholars Irish Pub. She is from Puerto Rico and has the best brown hair and brown eyes and of course an awesome accent. She stole my heart and I am putting out a bounty for her. Email me for details at Imasuckerformaria@yahoo.com
- I'm going to Florence this weekend with Rex to see his lady friend. Luckily my roommate John from Rutgers will be coming as my date.
- We found a little pizzeria a few blocks from us with the best Pizza Bombetta and it's like 5 euro and huge. service sucks. but that's ok. I wouldn't want to serve a trick like me either.
- My ma requested more details on my blog so because of her I will let everyone know that my bowel movements have been regular since moving here and I have had no problem adjusting to the no ice policy here.
- I miss breakfast burritos and DP in the morning.
- I had a dream about eating at Rosa's 2 nights ago. #shityounot
- I met a girl from Texas that invited us to come eat fajitas at her house sometime. I will be making my mom's queso.
- My ADD is still under control for the most part (the twitch I developed in my left ring finger has gone away for now)
- I haven't seen my roommate Tim from UF since Friday night when he got up and left us at dinner (he said he had to go to the bathroom but I think he was embarrassed by us, mainly Rex using "Bonjourno" at night like a rook). I hope he is alive. We think he's an underground pimp/player. We may never know the truth about him Timbo.
- Yesterday was Jeremy's birthday. Woke up and realized it and was sad for the first time here. Which is ok because I have never been as happy as I am right now since he's been gone. Rome is like my second baptism.
- Maria's roommate is bombass. She's from Jersey and has crazy awesome hair and is my music buddy.
- I can't decide if Italian men are all Casanova, American women are all easy, or if Rome has some sort of intoxicating love aroma of sorts in the air--and by love I mean lust--or maybe it's a bit of all three combined. Regardless, it's like everyone is on kiss cam here at least twice a night and everyone has no shame in kissing on the cam.
- The Jets won. Rex Ryan looks like my dad. Mark Sanchez beat Tom Brady. He will be a bad mofo QB one day.

Childish Gambinno being so sick!
DOWNLOAD THIS SONG KIDS. http://www.iamdonald.com/post/2545517517/feel-bad-about-some-people-not-making-it-to-the#disqus_thread
Okay whats up my nigga, word up to seven figures
My swag is always capital, it live in north Virgina
Bino on a hood beat, yain’t know he had it in him
I came on this beat, I ain’t even buy it dinner
Slide inside the party late, leaving with the baddest ho
Whiskey shots and doin Asian bitches is the status quo
The future’s always coming, whether clitoral or vaginal
I’m always in that pussy like my jacket made of calico
It’s on, I made this shit for New Years
Play this shit at midnight, like TV shows with boobies
My asthma status chronic, you can get an ounce of that
Real G’s only. Don’t fuck up my alphabet
I’m as real as I’ma get, loser who got confident
Attracted to an awkward bitch, but mostly cause we’re opposites
Blew up in 0-10 like tick, tick boom
No drugs at the club, I’ma slip shit through
Came hard on this bitch, my dick did too
Here’s a list of the shit I’m addicted to
Like, weed, whiskey, sometimes ex
But that is only when I’m drunk and call her up to have sex
These girls I fuckin now see my dick as a blank check
So I only sign my name and dot my ‘I’s on her chest, Yes
What ya’ll really want
What ya’ll really want, now
Black guy on Mad Men. I’m telling ya’ll it’s goin down
Ring around the Ros’e, these bitches love to fall down
Sober girls, broke niggas, tell em that they not allowed
It’s on, it’s on, yes-yes, it’s on
It’s on, it’s on, yes-yes, it’s on
It’s on, it’s on, yes-yes, it’s on
It’s on, it’s on, Let me tell you how it’s on
Who the fuck you think this bitch is leaving with?
Cause one of us is famous like ‘She and Him’
Wasn’t cool in high school, but that’s expected with geniuses
My music goes hard, bang shit like gay penises
My DJ be Sosupersam
She Asian, fuck that Klu Klux Klan
I love these clothes, that’s who I am
My name means fashion, Gucci mane
We are not exclusive, I hope she understand me
Chris Brown pussy, it won’t be at the Grammys
Finally met your girlfriend, that is why her fuckin knees hurt
Been to hell and back and all I gots this fuckin T-shirt
Laughing while mackin these ho
Vastly these rappers are slow
Asking to get back in the know, cause they
Lacking a passionate flow
Trust in Gambino, he has never failed us
Cause I have got “S” plus what a dog’s tail does
I read your blogs, fuck that fag
I’m like, LOL, hash tag rap
DC be spittin Jigga
He white, but he my nigga
My shit be grown man
Your shit be kitty litter
I always do it bigger
Thus far
Where do I begin? This place is amazing. Around every corner there is history and beauty. The smells are amazing. The weather is fresh. The nightlife is entertaining to say the least. I am meeting so many bombass people here and every day I wake up I roll out of bed with a smile on my face ready for my next adventure (it has been a long time since I felt this way, so feeling this way, to me, is somewhat of a new experience).
I don't feel like formulating sentences and I doubt anyone wants to read sentences so I am going to just shoot some thought bullets and wing this train.

- Italian men are creepy. They hang around bars and as the night moves on they move in on drunk American girls. They are very hands on and as I begin to befriend some of the girls at JCU I can see myself scuffling with a few in the future--sorry mom and dad.
- Double shot jack and coke doesn't exist. A double shot of jack with a double shot of coke to chase the shot of jack exists. But a double shot jack and coke mix drink does not. Ask for jack and coke with a lot of jack.
- I'm still getting the hang of my camera.
- I do miss Tyler Bean.
- I do not miss Jacob Joneitz.
- I am having Rosa's withdraws.
- Everyone smokes and I bet none of them die from lung cancer. Go figure.
- Ciao baby.
- There is a group from Notre Dame of about 20 students. They suck.
- A New York girl named Tricia is awesome. Her accent is awesome. She looks like Marlee Sanderson.
- My A.D.D.ness is being contained by the constant ability to do dope shit.
- "Firework" by Katy Perry is my second favorite song.
- "Fall For Your Type" by Jamie Foxx feat. Drake is my first favorite song. (SO ILL)
I feel as if my comfort zone is being uncomfortable. I am in a foreign land and it is here that my confidence, thus far, is most high. I love the unknown adventure waiting around every corner. This is how every day of my life has to be or I will go crazy. Dopeness.

Off to Rome
here is the jest of the journey to rome: I get on the plane and realize it was made for midgets (i sleep a total of 2 hours on both flights). heart break. then 39 min into the air they put on "Eat. Pray. Love." for every one to watch. JOY. 3 min into EPL I almost throw up because of how bad that movie is.
an hour passes... and so does the gas. the whole ride. The old man next to me eventually began bleeding out of his nose. is this my fault? im not gonna say no.
we had no problems with delays or finding flights and our bags ended up safely in rome. we met a few John Cabot students from cali and penn in london. one of the girls is cute. big deal. just another chick.
here are some cool things about roman hotel "Hilton Gardens": the beds are also made for midgets and the toilets are different.
